Call for Papers
Since 1994, IWQoS has evolved into a premier
workshop providing an international
forum for the presentation and discussion of cutting edge research on quality of service (QoS). Building on the successes of previous
workshops, the objective of IWQoS 2006 is to bring together
researchers, developers, and practitioners working in the area to discuss timely research results, and to identify
future directions and challenges in developing practical computer/networking systems where
predictable, controlled, and robust
performance is a central requirement. The workshopÕs scope will broadly cover all the
important aspects of QoS research: in networking (wireline, wireless, and sensor
networks), distributed
systems, operating systems, servers, and middleware (such as grid computing and peer-to-peer
systems),
where relevant technical issues include availability, reliability, security, pricing, incentive, resource management, and performance guarantees.
Topics of interest
include (but are not limited to):
- QoS in grid, peer-to-peer,
overlay,
and wireless mesh networks
- QoS in large-scale distributed systems
- System dependability, availability, resilience, and robustness
- Security as a QoS
parameter
- Rationality, incentive, microeconomics, and self-interest in decentralized
networks
- QoS in wireless, mobile, ad hoc, and sensor networks
- QoS specification,
translation, and adaptation
- Measurement-based QoS estimation and
verification
- QoS in intranets
and VoIP systems
We also solicit papers in the following areas:
- QoS architectures and protocols
- QoS analysis and modeling
- Resource management and admission control
- QoS routing
- QoS pricing and billing
- Evaluation metrics and methodologies for QoS
- Content delivery networks with service/performance guarantees
- QoS in web systems and storage systems
- Programmability and language features supporting QoS
- QoS in multimedia systems
- Service Level Agreements and QoS
- Server-side QoS and its roles in end-to-end QoS
provisioning
- QoS-aware middleware frameworks and services
- Integrated and differentiated services in
wide-area networks
IWQoS aims to allow rapid dissemination of
research results by providing fast turnaround in the review process. The deadline for papers is therefore as close to
the meeting
time as the publishers allow. The workshop is a single
track forum of two and a half days. In
the past, it has been cross-disciplinary and well focused, with an
emphasis on innovation. As a result, a considerable amount of the meeting time will be devoted to informal
discussions. The
workshop values both theoretical and practical research contributions.
The workshop is a single-track forum spanning two and a half days. It values
both theoretical contributions and practical experiences.

Best Student Paper Award
Award will be given at the conference to the
best student paper, whose first author is a current student.
Paper Submission
IWQoS invites submission of manuscripts that present
original research results, and that have not been previously published or currently
under review by another conference or journal. Any previous or simultaneous
publication of related material should be explicitly noted in the submission.
Submissions should be full-length papers that are no longer than 20
double-spaced single-column pages with font sizes of 11 or larger, including
all figures and references, and must include an abstract of 100 -- 150 words.
All papers must be submitted in either Postscript or the Adobe PDF format, and
no other formats are accepted by the paper submission web site. Submissions
will be judged on originality, significance, interest, clarity, relevance, and
correctness. At least one of the authors of each accepted paper must present
the paper at IWQoS 2006.
